In Hell, Damian—a demon mutt—had been put through torture at the hands of his father. Four-thousand years later, he's moved up to the mortal world, but is still wracked with the incessant memories of pain. Hardened by his past, he is cold, ruthless, and has grown a knack for killing every vampire in sight as a way to relieve the fire burning within him. But a human comes along, threatening to tear down his beliefs and the icy walls he's built around himself. With her life depending on him, he has to go up against an ex-fling and his father one last time. Since the age of six, Jade knew her life was destined to be strange. Accustomed to every type of supernatural being, she fears nothing—except the tall, muscled, tattooed man with fiery black eyes. When he finally opens his mouth to speak, she finds that he's deeper than the soulless charade he puts on.

The prince’s features became angry once more, but this was a different kind of angry. The twin dark pupils which rested in equally similar dark azure eyes flashed red as they turned to glare at the fallen angel. His beauty really was a travesty. Amy wondered not for the first time if God had wept when he was forced to banish the beautiful Lucifer from heaven. Lucifer. They didn’t know him by that name, here. Lucifer was a title reserved for legends. Here, he was the prince. “Is that true, my pretty little Amy?” his gentle voice was now full of scathing anger. “You are worse than a mortal.” The disdain in his voice was physically sickening. Amy felt suddenly ashamed. Worse than a mortal, that was the worst insult he could have inflicted upon her. Mortals were nothing, wisps of life to be taken at a moment’s notice. Playing pieces in a greater game between God and the prince, as they battled with each other for the right to reign over all of mankind. Angels were playing pieces, too, the only difference was that they knew this. Mortals were foolish enough to believe that they had some sort of a choice in the matter. “But I don’t want to be here!” she screamed, her frail voice lost in the great vastness of her surroundings. “I hate it here! I hate it! I want to go back, you know I do, you tricked me into coming here, you tricked me…” she dissolved into further tears. “Do you think He wants you, little angel who hates so much?” the prince laughed harshly. “Oh, I know he’s so forgiving,” his voice was dripping with sarcasm and bitter, bitter mockery. “But you cannot serve two masters.”

My dear reader! Please forgive me! I beg your pardon myself and on behalf of all the Muslim brothers. Being induced by Satan– the greatest enemy of this earth, we could not convey you your most valuable asset. This Satan makes sinner hated instead of sin into man’s heart. As a result, the earth has been turned into a battle field. Verily thinking this mistake, I have taken my pen. I have thought to convey your right to your hand. I will tell you some talks of love and humanity. This offering is for the attraction of mind– not for any greed or self-interest. The indwelling Lord is the witness– the purpose of my mini writing to you is only to satisfy the demand of pure sympathy! How many nights of mine have been passed without sleep as I cannot tell you such talks! If you do not believe, ask your heart! Heart does not tell a lie.

“What are you doing here?” I spat, sending cold shivers down the mortals’ spine. “I thought I told you to leave me alone.” She hesitated but didn’t look me eye to eye; like a foolish child in trouble. “I just wanted to see you,” The soft voice whispered, echoing off the shimmering black mirage that would soon fade. An uncontrollable laugh tore through me. “Why? I have told you to stay away. You are too naïve to comprehend the full extent of my power, I could have killed you in within seconds. Do you want that?” I didn’t need to hear her thoughts to know her answer. It was written all over the past, written all over our hearts. I felt the same too, but mortals shouldn’t be hanging around creatures like me. “There must be another way! We can’t always stay away from each other for eternity; it’d kill one of us.” Always so hopeful. “No, don’t you understand? We can’t be together Scarlett, that’s just how it goes. We weren’t meant to be. None of my kind is supposed to fall for yours, it’d kill you.”
